The
Hané Festival —
The Native Storytelling Tradition
Winter
- Hai is the time of the seasonal year when the Earth is resting
and restoring itself. After the migration of the birds, animals,
reptiles and insects to warmer regions or into hybernation, after
the cornfields have been harvested, after the first frost, and the
winter stars are in the night sky, the retelling of stories begins.
It is with this thought that we begin this festival. The word Hané
in Navajo is Story. Welcome to the Hané Festival.
